Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., said Sunday he’ll be highlighting President Donald Trump’s achievements in “growth, hope and opportunity” in his first term during the GOP national convention this week.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Scott slammed the Democratic convention for failing to clearly outline concrete plans for the future.
‘I’ll focus on growth, hope, and opportunity,” he said of his speech.
“If you looked at last week’s Democratic convention, you’re left shaking your head. What do they believe in? What do they want? Other than defunding the police, Medicare for all, raising taxes, we have no clue what they’re going to do.”
In contrast, Scott said he’ll emphasize what the Trump administration has accomplished.
“The Trump administration pre-COVID-19 created 7 million jobs and they did it in an inclusive way,” he said, noting “the lowest unemployment rate on record for African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, 70 year low for women. If President Trump is re-elected —and he will be — we can expect more growth, hope.”
Calling education “one of the fastest ways to level the playing field in America,” Scott added that he’ll “talk about the importance of school choice and quality education in every corridor of this country and finally opportunity. “
Scott said the Trump administration has a stellar record on educational accomplishments.
“When you think about school choice, the closest thing to magic in America is a good education, and too many kids and too many zip codes and too many neighborhoods do not have that chance,” he said.
“President Trump supports school choice and I will tell you that two-thirds or more of African Americans and Hispanic parents support school choice, because they know that if you want an opportunity in America, it comes through education, and we can deliver on that promise, just like he delivered on the promise for the highest-funding in the history of the country, for historically Black colleges and universities.”
