Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s call for an investigation into a packed concert is nothing more than “hypocrisy.”
She made her comments Thursday during an interview on television’s “Fox & Friends.”
“It’s the height of hypocrisy,” she said.
“The only investigation that we need to focus on like a laser is the investigation into Gov. Cuomo’s failed nursing home policies.”
In March, Cuomo forced nursing homes in his state to accept patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 and prohibited the facilities from testing patients for the virus before admitting them.
But Fox News noted he did call for a probe into a concert in Southampton over the weekend, where it appeared social distancing guidelines were not adhered to.
Stefanik said New York lost “thousands and thousands of beloved seniors” as a result of Cuomo’s nursing home policy.
“Cuomo is so quick to point fingers and launch investigations into New Yorkers, he needs to ensure that we have an independent investigation into his failed policies when it comes to protecting our seniors and nursing homes,” she said.
