The Convention of States is the only way to stop them
There is no need to stop them because there is a specific procedure for Amending the US Constitution and this is not it. The most these states can do is screw up the process in their state to the point in which they do not have a role in the Electoral College.
At that point, the citizens can recall these corrupt officials and sue these corrupt officials for depriving them of their right to determine the President of the US.
This is Amending the Constitution and it is a two-step process. The second-step involves Congress passing it by a 3/4 majority. Also, there may be procedural problems with the drafting of the proposed Amendment. I am not sure if there is a required format and if there is, what it may be.
It is possible the Justice Department can begin arresting state officials for violating voting rights.

Things are very touchy between the 2 (main) political parties already but eliminating the only fairness plan that was put in place to equalize every citizens power in our government is the Electorial College! With out it there will be constant war between the heavily populated costal states and the rest of the country ! I for one will not live peacefully with the heavily populated states running the show ! It will be war between the food producing states and the industrial non producing states this can be a very bad challenge !!!
