Vice President Kamala Harris’ communications director is leaving her post as the veep’s office and White House battle tanking poll numbers and leaks detailing frustration among Harris allies. Vanity Fair was first to report the departure of Ashley Etienne, while multiple outlets cited a White House official in reporting that her resignation would take effect next month. The official said that Etienne was leaving the administration to “pursue other opportunities,” but did not elaborate. The $1 trillion infrastructure bill that President Joe Biden signed into law earlier this week dumps a lot of new money into existing highway programs to be spent by state departments of transportation (DOTs). The price tag of the bill—which includes $550 billion in new spending, $110 billion of which is earmarked for highways and bridges—has seen it be described as a “historic” investment by supporters and a “monstrosity” by critics. Americans’ confidence in President Joe Biden’s mental fitness is declining as he nears a full year in office, a new poll shows. The Morning Consult/Politico poll, released Wednesday, shows that just 44% believe that Biden, who turns 79 on Saturday, is “stable,” while 50% said the opposite. The gap widened to 10 points when asked whether Biden “is in good health,” with 40% saying yes and 50% saying no. Americans say 48%-46% that Biden is not “mentally fit,” the poll added. The poll is a sharp contrast from Morning Consult’s poll from October 2020 where Americans said Biden was mentally fit by a 21-point margin. As the Kyle Rittenhouse trial is ongoing, it has garnered the attention of the entire media and our nation’s members of Congress as well. The 18-year-old Rittenhouse is facing five felony counts: one count of first-degree intentional homicide for the death of Anthony Huber, one count of first-degree reckless homicide for the death of Joseph Rosenbaum, two counts of reckless endangerment for firing a gun near others and one count of first degree attempted intentional homicide for the wounding of Gaige Grosskreutz, NPR reported.
