New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was criticized over the weekend for taking a stroll in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park with wife Chirlane McCray.

Twitter user Darren Goldner says in a video clip posted to Twitter:

“Seriously, you guys have a park. You live in the middle of a park. You don’t need to non-essentially travel to Brooklyn.”

De Blasio responds, “C’mon guys give it a break.”

“I’m not going to give it a break. This is selfish behavior,” Goldner shouts back. “This is so terribly selfish. You call yourself a progressive, but you chauffeur yourself to Brooklyn. You force people to drive you.”

It is not the first time.

De Blasio, who lives in Gracie Mansion 12 miles from Prospect Park, says he often exercises in his home neighborhood.

“I go get my exercise like everyone else,” the mayor said on NY1’s “Inside City Hall,” in early April.

“I go to my home neighborhood; it’s part of what helps me just continue to work nonstop,” he said. “I’m on conference calls pretty much the whole time.”

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani also ripped into de Blasio, telling Newsmax TV‘s “Greg Kelly Reports” that de Blasio “doesn’t get it.”

“I went to the hospitals when police officers were injured, firefighters were injured,” Giuliani said. “If it were me, I would be at some of the hospitals now, or trying to make sure they’re getting the care they should get. I wouldn’t be spending my time complaining, because I would know that by complaining you get less than by cooperating, and I would be giving people messages of hope.”
