New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio proposed a parade to celebrate healthcare workers once the city reopens, but even fellow Democrats are ripping the idea.
“Having a parade in New York City is one of the stupidest ideas I’ve ever heard,” Tapper, a former Democratic campaign aide, said on CNN’s “The Lead” on Tuesday.
CNN’s Erica Hill delivered the report from New York on de Blasio, adding, “well, not right now,” saying when the coronavirus risk has been mitigated.
But Tapper suggested it would not matter when.
“I hear ya, but still,” Tapper said.
De Blasio, whose city has been ravaged as the epicenter for the global coronavirus pandemic, intended the parade idea as a salute to the healthcare workers on the front lines, who risked their lives to save others.
“When that day comes that we can restart the vibrant, beautiful life of this city again, the first thing we will do is we will have a ticker-tape parade down the Canyon of Heroes for our healthcare workers and our first responders,” de Blasio said Tuesday, per the report.

The Mayor must have heard about the great parade In Philadelphia in 1918. Of course, it was responsible for killing tens of thousands, but it was a great parade.
The whole world now knows he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he’ll probably be re-elected.
There is a reason New York City is in the condition it is. He was popular enough to get the office, so that means too many people agreed with him, and are just as smart.
Intelligent people that could left the state long ago. I bet there will be more ‘enlightened people’ after all this ‘pandemic’ nonsense is over.
