Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., posted six ways in which she identifies herself, none of which included being a U.S. citizen, one of the candidates trying to defeat her in the November elections noted.
Republican Dalia al-Aqidi, gave a short reply on Twittter, stating “I am an American,” Fox News reported Wednesday.
Omar had sent a Twitter message earlier this week in which she describes herself as “Hijabi, Muslim, Black, Foreign born, Refugee, Somali,” adding “Easily triggering conservatives, Right wing bloggers, anti Muslim bigots, tinfoil conspiracy theorists, birthers, pay me a [dollar] to bash Muslims fraudsters, pro-occupation groups and every single xenophobe since 2016.”
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, also pointed out the irony of Omar leaving out “American” as one of her identities, writing on Twitter that “in today’s Leftist world of intersectionality, ‘American’ is deemed embarrassing & gauche.”
Many others on social media also noted the absence of anything to do with the United States she represents in Congress on the list of how Omar identifies herself.
“Not surprising that you don’t identify at all as American,” one of the responses stated. “I have no problems with any of the above except that. You were elected by Americans to serve Americans. Thank goodness you don’t purport to represent me.”
Another commentator on Twitter also expressed frustration with the list, writing “Can we talk about our state of Minnesota now and what we are working on here? I really tire of how much you focus on . . . well, you.”

We have many anti-American ‘refugees’ who come here because they know they can stay here even though they hate the concepts of Constitutional freedoms that America was founded on. When you combine radical religious views with fear of freedom, you end up with someone like her. Her radical sect of islam looks at America as a sinful nation because we don’t bow to mullahs. We aren’t governed by one particular demented mind, or mindset.
What I have never been able to wrap my head around is why they come. They hate the country they left, but maintain all the bad things they left behind. They want to benefit from our social structures, but do not want to embrace the American dream. Does that mean they essentially don’t believe the complete islam mandates?
Omar obviously believes something of the islam teachings, as shown in how she dresses; but that could just be an “identity” thing, popular with a lot of young libertards today. But how she acts is completely different. Islamic ‘law’ is clear about a woman’s place in islamic society, especially the radical islam. Clearly she’s a typical demonrat, who ignores the inconvenient parts of her ‘identity’.
Only the weak in our society need identities like hyphenated-Americanism. Live here, be here. What’s wrong with simply being an American?
