2020 Democrat presidential contender Joe Biden said in a 1974 interview that politicians have the power to take away freedom of speech in America.
In a 1974 interview for the Washingtonian magazine, Biden explained to interviewer Kitty Kelley that “politics is power.”
“And, whether you like it or not, young lady,” Biden told Kelley, “us cruddy politicians can take away that First Amendment of yours if we want to.”
He went on to say that he loved being a politician because it has so much power, and is better for “mankind” than doctors and “Indian chiefs.”
“I am proud to be a politician,” Biden said. “There is no other walk of life which can do more good for mankind than politics. It influences everything that happens to the American people.”
Politics should be the most honorable of professions,” he continued. “Those of you who are doctors and lawyers and Indian chiefs in the audience, how can any of you possibly do as much good, if you are very good at what you do, as I can do if I am very good at what I can do?”
‘You can’t,” Biden added. “So the point is, this is where the action is.”
Fast forward 45 years, and ask: what has Joe Biden done in government since then that’s done “good for mankind”?
Interestingly, after the interview was re-published in 2015, Biden’s team pushed back on his somewhat pro-life stance on abortion rather than his egregious and authoritarian comments over the First Amendment.

We have a God given as well as natural right to life, liberty and . The rights the people have listed in the Bill of Rights are not arbitrary. They are the natural rights of all people. No government or politicians has the right to take them away. They may get the power but I think the American people will revolt before we go the route of the Soviet Union, Red China, Cuba, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, and Venezuela, which is Bernie Sanders’ dreamed for paradise the USA must become in the future as he plainly stated in a speech.

Power corrupts, and Joe is proud to be corrupt. His do-nothing-except-enrich-himself career is a blatant example of the authoritarian purpose of the vast majority of politicians. If we truly had statesmen who put the well-being of its citizens and country above themselves and their greed for power, as our president has done, we could feel secure in our liberties. As it is, Joe Biden and his ilk will always be seen as domestic enemies of the people.
Sounds as if Joe was on a power trip and being a bit arrogant about it. That tells me that he didn’t see himself as what he was elected to be, i.e., the representative of his constituents. He saw himself as something considerably more than that, someone to wield power and exert it over others. Like most of the people who read this article, I found it more than unsettling. By that measure 60% of Congress and 20% of the Senate would be ineligible to serve and 20 of the 23 Democratic Candidates for President would not Qualify.

Power can be used for good, but it rarely is. The first amendment, along with the next nine were REQUIRED by the founding fathers to be added before they would consent to sign the Constitution. The “Bill of Rights” was meant to protect the country against a government gone rogue, such as Biden and his familiars desire. I just read an article where a community in Australia is changing the name of an event from “Mother’s Day” something to “Binary Day”. The mayor apologized to members of the community for all of the past years of pain that came from the previous name. Biden says politicians can take away free speech then, and they have now.
