Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., accused America’s founders of writing bigotries into the Constitution.
Booker, who is an announced 2020 presidential candidate, made his comments during an interview on NPR’s “Morning Edition.”
“The founders were imperfect geniuses,” he said. “They wrote a lot of our bigotries into (the Constitution) . . . if you think about how we have overcome those things, it’s always been by creating, first, calls to consciousness, speaking truth about the injustices, and then bringing together those uncommon coalitions.”
Booker added: “We are a nation of conscience, and I found partners on the other side of the aisle who agree with me on these issues. And we can build from there. In fact, when I first came to the Senate, people laughed. I had people telling me, ‘There’s no way you’re going to get a comprehensive criminal justice reform bill done.'”
The Washington Free Beacon noted it was unclear what Booker was specifically referring to when he used the term “bigotries.” A Free Beacon request for comment was not immediately returned.

Hey, I resemble that remark! I’ve lived in New Jersey for 64 years and have watched it degenerate into the garbage pile it now is because of the Demoncrats gerrymandering all of the legislative districts to their favor, based on the alleged “census”. We have many conservative towns now linked to inner city neighborhoods as part of the re-districting in our state. We fought like hell to stop it, but the Democrats somehow maintained their offices and now we’re all being screwed over. Just the mere fact Booker was under Fed. investigation for thievery, corruption and extortion while Mayor of Newark (NJs largest city), and he quit being Mayor and ran for and got elected U.S. Senator shows you the corruption in the Demoncrat Party. Same goes for Senator Menendez. Many politicians from out of state have been dissuaded from coming to New Jersey to support candidates because they’re being told that “the dirt will rub off on them”.

We have since cured them through amendments to our Constitution and couched into law prohibitions against desperate treatment of people based on immutable characteristics.
