Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday rejected an attempt by the committee’s Democrats to force the release of documents related to President Donald Trump’s private sit-down with Russian President Vladimir Putin in July, The Hill reports.

Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., introduced a resolution in late July that would have insisted on obtaining “copies of every document, record, communication, transcript, summary, note, memorandum, and read-ahead” surrounding the president’s summit with Putin.

Democrats pressed Republicans on the panel to advance the measure to the House for a full debate, but the committee effectively killed it on a party-line vote.

“We’ll never forget the bizarre press conference, but it is Trump and Putin’s secretive one-on-one meeting in Helsinki behind closed doors that is especially concerning given Putin’s role interfering in our elections, his ongoing threat to our allies, and President Trump’s failure to confront these concerns with the response they merit,” Boyle said.

Trump’s meeting was criticized by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, specifically because he questioned the credibility of the FBI and U.S. intelligence regarding Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election and said he believed Putin instead. Trump later backtracked on his comments.

  1. I believe the American people have Right to know what Trump and Putin discussed. The Republican party is now siding with Russia and the thug of Russia. Why? What is so secretive and what are they afraid of by disclosing? This is not transparency, this is dictatorship policy. Time for the Republicans to be thrown out of office.

    • I disagree. The meeting was not a public forum. It was a private meeting. The public does not have the right to know everything that goes on behind closed doors. There is information that the president has that nobody else has so get off your broom stick. Just make shit up like the media usually does.

  2. The dem wits trumped up the Russia deal themselves and did more with the Russians than Trump will ever do. I AM SURE TRUMP WILL NOT SELL THEM ANY MORE URANIUM LIKE BOZO AND HILLBILLY! And remember the open mic and Bozo telling Putin in 2012 to be patient while he ran his second election because after that then they could have a talk? Hum? About what Bozo?

And there are just some things that are based on the Need To Know principle and dem wits think it is all their business though the last I checked the Bozo administration has done and did their best to keep the nation out of that administration business, not the least bit transparent, and all that was done in the dark and they thought safely hidden is coming to the light for inspection. Surprise!

  3. In case most are not aware, elements of control in our own foreign intelligence services operate independently of US oversight. They are funded by a “black budget” meaning finanancially supported in part by taxpayers, but with no accountability in any transparent form. Thanks to global communications we get snippets from international news sources of this agenda. One which has never been denied, but is not publicly admitted for obvious reason is that the black budget funds ISIS terrorists in taking down sovereign nations like Libya and Syria who maintain their own independent central bank, have a wealth of natural resources like oil and have political leverage with many of our allies.

In short these ‘rogue’ nations would rather not play ball with the international globalist idea of governance. Trump like Putin seek to modify, in some cases eliminate elements of this governance which hurt their own economic potential and by extension, many of their own people. The US media is compromised in disseminating the reality of a radical faction within the foreign intelligence community, who are truly rogue, but are only known in a reported conspiratorial ‘mythology’ as the shadow government.

So there are many related concerns within our country that are meddled with by own people, which if disclosed by our media would not only crush the current narrative, but bring shame to their own credibility. Hence, secret meeting.
